What was the activity about?
The activity was a visit to the Old Age Home run by the Red Cross Society. We
collected money as a class and used it to buy groceries, food, soap, toothpaste,
and other essentials. We also spent time with the elders, spoke to them, and
organised fun games to make them happy.
What was your role in this activity?
My role was to contribute money, help plan and purchase the required materials,
and assist in distributing them. I also interacted with the elders, listened to their
experiences, and helped conduct the games. I made sure everyone felt included,
respected, and cared for throughout the visit.
What did you learn from this activity?
I learned the importance of kindness, empathy, and respecting elders. Spending
time with the residents showed me how meaningful compassion and
companionship can be. I realised that even small efforts, like listening and being
present, can bring joy to others. This experience taught me to value family,
community, and service.
How does this activity contribute to nation-building?
This activity builds social responsibility, compassion, and unity among young
citizens. When students serve the community, we develop values of care,
respect, and empathy. Such behavior strengthens society and encourages future
generations to contribute positively. Responsible, caring individuals help build a
strong, humane, and inclusive nation.
How will you apply this learning in your daily life?
I will apply this learning by practicing kindness and being patient, especially
toward elders. I will offer help whenever possible and show more gratitude in
daily life. I will also encourage others to spread positivity, respect people
around them, and participate in service activities to support the community.
